April 1, 2021 For Immediate Release: Hamilton Artists Inc. Announces Staffing Changes

Hamilton Artists Inc. congratulates outgoing Executive Director, Julie Dring on her new role with the University of Waterloo. Julie’s tireless efforts over her two and a half years in the role have resulted in significant organizational growth and financial sustainability. She helped develop equity and anti-oppression practices, established a strong fundraising network, and diversified revenue streams. Julie’s incredible administrative skills are only paralleled by her collaborative spirit and passion for artist-run advocacy. In Julie’s own words:

My time spent as Executive Director at Hamilton Artists Inc. has been an incredibly enriching experience. During the past several years, I've come to know the Inc. as much more than a white-walled gallery. It is a place for discussion, learning, and unlearning, as well as a place for mentoring, supporting, and recognizing artists and arts workers. I was lucky to work alongside an amazing team of staff, board, and volunteers who I know will continue to serve the arts community with attentiveness and passion in all that they do. I will miss you all greatly.

Working with Julie has been a true pleasure. We extend her our sincerest thanks for her leadership and vision, and wish her all the best in her new endeavours! Julie’s last day in the role of Executive Director will be April 20, 2021. We would also like to recognize Jasmine Mander for her outstanding work as our Communications and Outreach Coordinator. Though Jasmine recently stepped down from this position, she will continue to lead the Incoming! program for immigrant, newcomer, and refugee artists through summer 2021. Jasmine says:

In 2019, I stepped into my role at the Inc. looking for an opportunity to reconnect with the Hamilton arts scene. Little did I know that I would soon meet an incredible number of human beings! From artists, and curators to writers and fellow arts workers, you have all inspired me more than you will ever know. A big thank you to the staff and board at Hamilton Artists Inc., it was an incredible experience to grow and learn with you all!

We are certain that Jasmine will continue to sprout growth wherever she goes! During her time in the role, Jasmine led our strong digital presence, fostered new community relations, helped build innovative fundraising initiatives, and successfully adapted our outdoor screenings and Photophobia to online formats. It has been our great honour to witness the tremendous ways she has touched the Inc. with her thoughtfulness, creativity, and warm energy. We will miss Jasmine greatly and wish her all the very best!
