Art is the most intense mode of individualism that the world has known– Oscar Wilde

Each artist in this exhibition takes a different artistic approach to image production, through the use of photography, painting, as well as a combination of these two opposing mediums. Although dissimilar in both process and premise, the works share a commonality in the artists’ comprehensive exploration of their respective subjects. This exhibition joyously abandons rational thematic classification, and instead celebrates individuality.

Sarah Beattie is an emerging painter currently residing in Hamilton. Upon graduating from the Visual Arts program at Brock University, Beattie has been recognized nationally for her Say Sneeze series; as the Ontario winner of BMO 1st Art! (2012), a finalist for The Kingston Prize (2013) and as part of the “Untapped” section at The Artist Project (2013).

Achieving creative excellence is an unwavering passion for Michelle Manzoni.  It’s the thread that binds the colourful tapestry of her life.  She makes her mark as owner of PhotoSplash Photography.  Her entrepreneurial spirit has unleashed the freewheeling creativity of an artistic photographer without compromising the staunch discipline needed for commercial images that sell brands. Michelle’s love of photography shows through in each and every photograph she takes; unquestionably a true professional.

Michelle Teitsma has a degree from Sheridan College for visual arts majoring in Classical Animation. She also earned a degree in advanced airbrush from Mohawk College. She had been a partner with the Jordan Art Gallery for five years, before leaving the gallery to live in west Hamilton. She sat on the advisory board with the Grimsby art gallery for five years, on the collections and acquisitions committee. She also, during this time period, taught oil painting classes to children and adults at GPAG. A large mural donated by the artist, hangs at the West Lincoln memorial hospital.
