Jet Coghlan, Lupita Guerrero, and Jill Letten

-

We are pleased to present the second round of our Ignition 9 Window Activation series, featuring artworks by Ignition award recipients in our street-facing windows in downtown Hamilton. Jet Coghlan, Lupita Guerrero, and Jill Letten are three of six recipients of the Ignition Award for Distinction presented annually to graduating students in the McMaster and Waterloo visual art programs.

This year’s Ignition program consists of an online artist showcase, two rounds of window activations, and several open studio sessions via Instagram livestream. To learn more about the project or check out the online artist showcase, please visit the main exhibition page.

Ignition 9 artists’ works are exhibited as large-format prints. Please contact the artist directly to inquire about purchasing the original artwork or the print on display. Artists retain 100% of the proceeds from the sales of their artworks.

About the Award:

As an artist-run centre, Hamilton Artists Inc. strives to support artists at all levels of their careers by empowering artistic expression and research. Established in 2013 by former staff member and McMaster graduate, Reg Gilmore, in association with the Studio Art Program at McMaster University, the Ignition award honours exceptional graduating students with a professional exhibition at Hamilton Artists Inc. In 2021, the Ignition award has grown to include the University of Waterloo Fine Arts Department, bridging cross-institutional connections and fostering regional arts discourses.

Hamilton Artists Inc. would like to acknowledge its exhibition partners: McMaster University, School of the Arts and University of Waterloo, Department of Fine Arts.
