ADRIANA DE RUYTER, PATRICIA KOZOWYK and SUSAN ROBINSON

April 10 – May 3

Opening Reception: April 10, 7:00-9:30 (Artists will be in attendance)

The perception of truth can distance others or bring them together. Sometimes, these differences in perception lead to a common ground. With different approaches, backgrounds, and ages, these three women unite to bring forth art as they see it – with their common thread being the need to create. Recognizing such a need as a vital factor in their quality of life makes us realize perhaps we’re not so different after all.

Hamilton Spectator Review

Adriana de Ruyter is just now beginning to paint on canvas. Her earlier works involved mixed media on paper, watercolours, drawings and quilting. Immigrating to Canada from Holland with her family in 1951, teaching became her first career, but art was always an avocation. In the 1980’s she concentrated on art and exhibited her work in both solo and group shows. Now, in her retirement, Adriana is avidly pursuing paint and colour!

Pat Kozowyk, a McMaster University graduate, became a member of the Hamilton Artists’ Inc. in 1978 and has exhibited since then in solo and group exhibitions; nationally and internationally. Pat has curated exhibitions, taught art and led workshops for various regional art institutions. She received grants from the Ontario Arts Council and the Canada Council for the Arts. Pat Kozowyk and Catherine Gibbon shared Hamilton’s “Woman of the Year in the Arts” award in1994. Works in collections include the Art Gallery of Hamilton. Publications include Hamilton Arts & Letters issue five.2 Rememberance. 2012.
