Fundraiser PERFORMANCE ART PUNK Thursday August 9 8 pm at This Ain’t Hollywood 345 James St N

August 06, 2012Updates

Taking place on Thursday August 9th and starting at 8pm @ This Ain’t Hollywood, 345 James St. North, Hamilton. Musical acts headlining the evening are Buckshot Bebee and Lola Internet and the Bangkok Proxies. Artist and PAP co-organizer Irene Loughlin opens with a performance work. Tickets are $7 and available at the door only. Proceeds from this event go to Hamilton Artists Inc., a non-profit registered charity and artist-run centre with a mandate for diverse community programming.

Performance Art & Punk, or “PAP #1”, is the first of a series of benefit events that pairs these two distinct but complementary art forms. Tapping into these communities that underpin the DIY arts culture of Hamilton and with a focus on women-identified performers and allies, organizers Chris Healey and Irene Loughlin believe there is an opportunity to bring contemporary art and music audiences together in an inclusive and progressive environment.

“Artists of any type want to help and support each other, and we think the audience will really enjoy seeing some of Hamilton’s best bands mixed with performance artists doing their thing outside of a gallery context,” offers Healey, “There is a lot of potential for music, contemporary art and spoken word communities to share the stage and wow folks watching this spectacle.”

Thanks to all the performers, and to This Ain’t Hollywood for hosting PAP #1.
