Wheatpaste Ticket

Introduction to Wheatpaste

**Please note - this is a free workshop. Click the blue button to reserve your spot!

During this immersive hands-on workshop, you'll learn about the technique of wheatpaste application. By the end, participants will have a solid understanding of the practice, and will contribute to a communal collage in the new outdoor exhibition space in the courtyard at Hamilton Artists Inc. Our expert instructors will guide you through the process, from crafting your own unique paste to selecting the perfect spot for your masterpiece. Whether you're a seasoned artist or a curious beginner, this workshop promises to ignite your passion for urban expression. No experience is required and participation is free, but space is limited.

In this three-hour workshop, participants will learn about:

  1. Creating your own paste
  2. Selecting the right design and materials
  3. Selecting the best surface

Participants will be requested to bring in prepared designs to the workshop. Designs could include posters, photos, protest signs, or poetry. Please be mindful that it will be a shared space, and please do not bring anything larger than 18x24”. Multiple smaller designs or varying sizes are encouraged! Note: We recommend that designs are laser-printed! Water soluble (or inkjet) prints may get distorted. Additionally, the thinner the paper the better - regular printer paper is ideal.

Posters for Palestine will be printed and available if you do not wish to bring your own design.

All materials including gloves and equipment will be provided. Please wear comfortable clothing that you’re okay with getting messy in.

Participants should note that wheatpaste contains gluten, a common allergen.
