The art world is highly competitive for funding and presentation opportunities. Arts Councils on every governmental level are oversubscribed and underfunded. This is resulting in far fewer artists receiving funding and fewer places to showcase work. Artists are forced to contend with feelings of rejection, unworthiness, humiliation and other negative emotions.

The social pain of rejection can trigger a physical response in the brain which is the same area that processes pain. We literally feel rejection as pain. Repeated rejection or social exclusion can lead to a build-up of physical tension that is stored in the body.

On Saturday, January 24th from 3-5pm EST, Indu Vashist will lead participants through exercises to help identify how the climate of the art world impacts the realms of emotion, mind and body. Note that this is an online workshop.

Registration is free and open to all. To register for the event via Zoom, please click here.
